1. Before going to the doctor go to http://www.walmart.com/ then go to pharmacy and print off an updated list of their $4 generic drugs. Last I heard they have 360 generics on the list. Then take that list with you to the doctor so if he has to write you a prescription he can see if there is a suitable drug that will work for the reduced price.



2. When you are faced with a necessary prescription try to get the doctor to prescribe a generic drug. Generics are generally cheaper and work equally as well. This also goes along with the RXSaver card, you will usually get bigger discounts with generics when using the card.



3. With prescription in hand, call several pharmacies and compare their prices. There are surprising differences in the cost depending on which pharmacy you use. Again same goes with the RXSaver card, each pharmacy is different in the discounts you will receive.



4. If you don't have a Walmart or other large discount store nearby print off the $4 generic list. Most pharmacy chains will match competitors prices, but you have to show them the discount you would of received.
